New Dominican Organization fills Lowell with Rhythm, Joy & Tradition

Lowell – The city of Lowell came alive with rhythm, joy, and tradition during the successful debut of Tambores de Quisqueya, a new Dominican dance organization destined to become a symbol of Caribbean culture in Massachusetts.
Their performance, part of the Lowell Folk Festival, was a true spectacle of energy and color, enhanced by the vibrant presence of the Dominican carnival group Cofradía Cultural, which paraded through the city’s main streets in a procession that captivated everyone in attendance.
A Project with Dominican Roots
Led by the Dominican women Felicita “Fela” Espinal, Pamela Blanco, and Yvonne Francisco, Tambores de Quisqueya was created with a clear mission: to bring Dominican folklore, music, and culture to new generations while strengthening ties with other cultural communities in Lowell and surrounding cities.
